Maternity Services

The Women’s Center at Mainland Medical Center (MMC) is dedicated to caring for the health and safety of both mother and child, while keeping the birth process as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

Our Labor and Delivery Unit place the focus on you and your baby. Our professional nursing staff is here to provide you the privacy and comfort you want during your hospital stay. Our birthing suites are private and can accommodate labor, delivery and recovery all in the same room.

A spacious waiting room area is available for families and friends. And, should you need it, we have two operating rooms on site for cesarean sections.

Registered Nurses are certified in Fetal Monitoring and practice according to the guidelines established by the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN) and the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).  Our Women’s Services staff is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation, allowing us to provide safe and quality care to you and your newborn.

Our mothers have the wonderful experience of newborn transition at the bedside after delivery. This often allows families to enjoy their new baby without interruption during the hospital stay.

Newborn Nursery

The Newborn Nursery is dedicated to ensuring that your family and new baby make great memories during your stay with us. A caring and loving nursing staff will provide quality care for your newborn baby as he or she transitions.

Our nursery nurses have extensive knowledge on breastfeeding benefits and techniques. We provide a supportive and comfortable environment for the breastfeeding mother.

Postpartum Care

Recognizing the special needs of women immediately after the birth of their babies, MMC provides a dedicated Postpartum Care Unit. This is a 15-bed unit features all private rooms to create a more peaceful surrounding and reduce stress while maximizing the patient's comfort level.

Nearby NICU

Mainland Medical Center (MMC) is a campus of Clear Lake Regional Medical Center (CLRMC), which has a 42-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) available by helicopter should it be needed.
