Mainland Medical Center (MMC), a Campus of Clear Lake Regional Medical Center (CLRMC), today was named one of the nations Top Performers on Key Quality Measures™ by the Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America. MMC was recognized by the Joint Commission for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for certain conditions.
MMC is one of 620 hospitals in the United States earning the distinction of Top Performer on Key Quality Measures™ for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance. MMC was recognized for its achievements in the treatment of heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care. The ratings are based on aggregation of accountability measure data reported to the Joint Commission during the 2011 calendar year. The list of Top Performers increased by 50 percent from its debut last year and represents 18 percent of more than 3,400 eligible accredited hospitals reporting data.
“We know that what’s most important to our patients at Mainland Medical Center is safe, effective, high-quality care from a compassionate, skilled staff,” said Michael Ehrat, CEO. “The recognition of Mainland Medical Center by The Joint Commission as a 2011 ‘Top Performer’ is a testament to the work of the hospital’s physicians and staff and their dedication to the patients of Galveston County.” Ehrat added, “Comprehensive patient care requires a multidisciplinary approach by an entire team, and we have a team of outstanding physicians and clinical leaders committed to providing the best care for our patients.”
Mainland Medical Center is a top performer in surgical, heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia care and was chosen based on its quality improvement efforts in these areas to create better outcomes for patients and ultimately a healthier community. As a result of hospitals that, like MMC, have used evidence based care processes in patient care— a tremendous improvement in performance has been measured over the past ten years.
